Fundraising and Giving

2005 marked the First Annual Golf Tournament of the Canadian Lebanon Society of Halifax, which as a major corporate fundraiser. Since 2005, the Society has raised over $100,000 through this annual event.

The Canadian Lebanon Society of Halifax hosted it's 12th Annual Golf Tournament on August 25th , 2016 and as usual, it was a fun packed day. The tournament has become the Society's major fundraiser of the year, so it's an important one for us. Year 2016 event took place at Granite Springs Golf Club and we were blessed with good weather. The tournament had 144 golfers and over 18 sponsors to help make it a success. The day got started at noon where teams made their way in to register and have a small traditional Lebanese lunch thanks to one of our sponsors. When the shotgun went off at 1:00, the teams were off to the races to show who the best of the best was. In attendance was a wide range of teams from the major banks, to construction suppliers, development & consulting firms plus many others. A major shout out has to go out to our many sponsors of the day, who without them, this tournament could not happen. We thank them all for their generous and continuous support over the years. One of the special things about this tournament is that there is a strong presence on almost every one of the sponsored 18 holes. From Donairs and shawarmas to hamburgers and beer, there's never a shortage of complimentary food and drinks on the course. Not to mention a massage on hole 16 if you were feeling a little sore.  Once all teams got their 18 holes in, they made their way to the clubhouse for a steak dinner and the presentation of the prizes and championships. This year our 2 time defending champions McGinnes Cooper law firm took home 1st place again. Along with 1st place, there were prizes for most honest score, longest drive and putting challenge. This year every golfer also received a wind breaker when they registered. Of course, we can't help but give thanks to the committee that puts this tournament together to ensure it’s a success. Preparations begin months before, and it's always an early morning and late night for those involved, but there's always a sense of reward when they see how enjoyable tournament is year after year for the attendees.

A special thanks also goes to the staff at Granite Springs for all their help the day of the tournament. They always go above and beyond to help us get set up, take down and everything in between. We would like to again thank our sponsors, golfers and everyone involved in making this event a fundraising success for the Society and we look forward to our 13th tournament next August.
